Traits
TYPICAL GUARD
is an educated and upstanding citizen from Britain who holds high thoughts of
ethics and morale. However, they all share some common traits, such as an
urge to enforce order and an unchallenged love for the lands of Britannia.
The general Britannian Guard should be an educated solider with mistrust for
people of lesser social rank and with an unquestionable hate towards rebellious
tendencies.
HE RESIDENTS
of Britain are mostly typical mainland Sosarians, though they pride themselves
on being "pure breed" Britannians. Their skin is fair, and their hair anything
between blonde and black. They are somewhat taller than southerners, although
less so than those to the far north, of medium build. Being a large, important
city, roughly an eighth of the population of Britain are of a notably different
ethnic origin. There exists a sizable elvish community and a scattering of
other races may be found. All, however, by and large speak Common Britannian,
the main dialect of the entire Kingdom, which originated in the city towards the
end of the third century. A considerable number of the population in fact speaks
Traditional Britannian, the tongue as it was spoken from the dawn of the first
century, containing a more elaborate system of verb and noun suffixes. The accent
of Britain is clearer and more gentle than anywhere else in Britannia. This lends
itself well to the kind nature of the people, who for the most part are welcoming
and friendly to all, in accordance with the Virtues which are the predominant
philosophy for most of the citizens.
- Citizens of Britain are often seen as snobs compared to people from
other cities and often endulge themselves in the more fine forms for
entertainment; such as theatre, duelling, poetry and good food.
- Citizens of Britain speak Britannian and no other tounge, yet some
guards may come from an elvish bloodline.
- Guards take pride in their uniform and in the honour of their
country.
- Guards thoroughly disrespect people with rebellious tendencies.
- Guards are upholders of Virtue and would often find it compassionate
to arrest and prosecute non-believers, as their lives would be
meaningless without it.
- Guards are tolerant towards other races and can often come across as
more diplomatic than hardened smiths from the northern towns such as
Minoc.
