Ranks
The King's Guard
Trainee
 |
Trainee is the standard rank given to all newcomers wishing to join
the Guard. The lowest of the low, Trainees are not at all respected
and are usually left to do the work that their superiors are excused from.
This is the trial period for all those new to the Guard, and they must
impress the Officers and Baron alike to show that they have what it takes
to be deemed ready for full acceptance into the Guard.
Uniform: Ringmail tunic, ringmail sleeves, ringmail
gloves, ringmail leggings, ringmail gorget, chainmail coif, LB blue kilt,
darkest grey boots, halberd, dull copper metal shield.
|
Recruit
 |
Recruit is very much an extension period of training. They have passed
out of the first phase of being a soldier, having the needed experience to
advance from Trainee - the most junior soldier in the Guard.
During the period in which soldiers hold the rank of Recruit, all the
officers, and indeed the Baron himself, watch them most vigilantly. It is
crucial that all those who hold the rank give their best effort while awaiting
their next promotion, as it takes great endeavour to be deemed worthy of
the rank of Armsman, and the chance to subsequently apply for a specialised
Regiment.
Uniform: Chainmail tunic, chainmail sleeves, chainmail
gloves, chainmail leggings, plate gorget, plate helmet, LB blue kilt,
LB blue sash, LB blue bandana, NPC-bought boots, halberd, order shield.
|
Armsman
 |
Armsmen are those who have been in the Guard for at least one month and
have begun to get to grips with their newfound duties. Still "infants" within
the Guard, they still have much to learn; however they will be experienced
enough to guide Trainees and Recruits in the right direction, and to lead the
odd event as they hone their leadership skills awaiting promotion to a fully-fledged
Guard.
By this stage, the Armsmen will be permitted to apply for a particular
Regiment, should they feel that they wish to work on certain particular skills
that their chosen Regiment specialises in, which the standard Guards Regiment
does not.
Uniform: Chainmail tunic, chainmail sleeves, chainmail
gloves, chainmail leggings, plate gorget, plate helmet, LB blue kilt,
LB blue sash, LB blue bandana, NPC-bought boots, halberd, order shield.
|
Guard
 |
Guards are among the most commonly seen soldiers in the Guard. They have
considerably impressed their superiors and have sufficient knowledge about
the Guard to be worthy of the title. Like those of lower rank, they are required
to follow orders promptly and sensibly, but they are now junior leaders themselves,
and have the consent to issue orders to lower-ranked guards.
They must observe their superiors with utmost enthusiasm, and learn well what
they are taught about leadership, should they even hope to advance further in the
Guard.
Uniform: Chainmail tunic, chainmail sleeves, chainmail
gloves, chainmail leggings, plate gorget, plate helmet, LB blue kilt,
LB blue sash, LB blue cap, belt, NPC-bought boots, halberd, order shield.
|
Veteran Guard
 |
Battle-hardened warriors; only those who are constant, who repeatedly show
enthusiasm, and who persistently demonstrate great leadership will have the
honour of wearing the respectable Veteran Guard's badge.
When this rank is achieved, much effort is required if one hopes to retain
the rank. Veteran Guards have had a prolonged career as a soldier, having seen
many battles, and many wars, making them formidable foe on the field.
Most who reach the rank of Veteran Guards will never see another promotion,
but through vigilance and determination, they may well be awarded with yet
another badge showing their flawless efforts during service.
Uniform: Chainmail tunic, chainmail sleeves, chainmail
gloves, chainmail leggings, plate gorget, plate helmet, LB blue kilt,
LB blue sash, LB blue cap, belt, NPC-bought boots, halberd, order shield.
|
Corporal
 |
Corporals are "junior officers" in the Guard: those who have shown
satisfactory leadership and dedication to be regarded as a leader of
their respected Regiment.
Not an actual officer yet; however this is in fact a trial period in
which the Corporal must demonstrate their ability to one day be suitable
for officer class.
Note: Corporals, though not officers, do indeed represent the
Guard Command.
Uniform: Chainmail tunic, chainmail sleeves, chainmail
gloves, chainmail leggings, plate gorget, plate helmet, LB blue kilt,
LB blue sash, LB blue cap, belt, NPC-bought boots, halberd, order shield.
